Crypto Took The Week. Industrials Went The Other Way.

END OF PART ONE

That's the quick read.

If you're a casual investor, you can stop here. You know where opportunity is developing, where the risks are, and whether the major markets look ready to move.

Everything below is for the market nerds.

If “just tell me what to buy” isn't enough — if you want to know why, what the data actually says, what would confirm the thesis, and what would prove it wrong — keep reading.

The first three sections are the signal. The rest is the evidence.

Polaris Deep Dive
For investors who want to know why.

4 · Crypto Took The Week. Industrials Went The Other Way.

What actually mattered this week?

Crypto took the week outright. Tier 2: ETH gained +33.7%, and the average crypto complex +25.4% against +1.1% for the average equity complex, across 27 tracked complexes of which 16 advanced. Defense was the week's worst price performer at -6.84%, narrowly below Industrials at -6.77%. But Industrials also collapsed from rotation rank 5 to 17, giving its weakness confirmation across both price and relative leadership.

4 subjects strengthened in every one of the 5 sessions: Gold Miners, Precious-metals leadership (broad), Silver Miners and Uranium; 2 deteriorated in every one of them (Insurance and Utilities). Persistence across 5 consecutive daily reads separates sustained evidence from a one-session observation.

Underneath the returns the ranking re-ordered: 12 complexes held their place in the leadership tercile. A complex can rise in price and still lose rank if others rose faster.

Polaris revised its daily verdict on 3 of 5 sessions, tracking breadth and sector damage day by day — yet no single session named the Tier 2: ETH advance as the story. That is what the weekly horizon adds.

Both sides advanced: this was outperformance, not capital moving between them. Polaris measures returns and holds no flow-of-funds evidence.

Why This Matters: The weekly view helps separate persistent rotation from single-session noise.

5 · The Big Moves

Which complexes defined the week?

The advance was concentrated in Tier 2: ETH (+33.7%), Theme: ISO / Settlement Networks (+31.6%) and Theme: Payment Rails (+24.5%); against it, Defense (-6.8%), Industrials (-6.8%) and Semiconductors (-5.3%). All measured close to close over the week, not single-session pops.

Why This Matters: Moves of this size can materially change relative leadership and what deserves attention.

6 · Leadership / Opportunity Watch

What strengthened over the week?

By rotation rank, held the leadership tercile all week: Software, Precious Metals, Gold Miners, Silver Miners, Uranium and Tier 1: BTC.

Held all week: Gold Miners (5/5 sessions), Precious-metals leadership (broad) (5/5 sessions), Silver Miners (5/5 sessions) and Uranium (4/5 sessions, seen in 2 separate daily sections).

Why This Matters: A setup that survives the full week has been carried through five consecutive daily reads. One that appeared on Friday has not.

7 · What Broke / What Weakened

What deteriorated during the week?

Measured damage: Defense -6.8%, Industrials -6.8% and Semiconductors -5.3%.

Rotated out of leadership: Industrials (rank 5→17, -12 places, -6.8% on the week). Not merely a poor return — a loss of position relative to everything else Polaris ranks.

Slipped but still leading: Uranium (3→5), Tier 3: Cached alts (16-coin basket) (1→3), Silver Miners (2→3), Theme: Payment Rails (3→4) and Theme: Stablecoin Infrastructure (2→3) — still inside the leadership tercile. A shuffle among leaders is a different event from leaving it.

Already weak and still weak: Utilities (19→20) and Insurance (20→19) — bottom tercile throughout. A marginal rank gain here is not a recovery, only a less weak position among the weak.

Convictions still calling deterioration at the close: Insurance (5/5) and Utilities (4/5).

Dropped during the week: REITs (last held 2026-08-20) and EA (last held 2026-08-20) — no longer seen, not reversed.

Why This Matters: Deterioration that persists across a week is a change in trend. Deterioration that appears once is a bad session.

8 · Risk Watch

What could derail the developing setup next week?

3 risk conditions were active in every one of the 5 sessions this week: Active Danger Zone conditions, Leadership concentration and Thesis invalidation. A risk that stays lit for a full week of sessions is not an alert; it is the current environment.

Why This Matters: The setup that led this week is the position most exposed if these conditions resolve against it.

9 · AI Watch

What did the AI complex do this week?

The AI complex over the week: Semiconductors -5.3%, Software +1.1%, Mag 7 -1.2% — an average of -1.8%.

That is 2.9 points of relative weakness against an equity complex averaging +1.1%. Continued underperformance next week would strengthen the case that leadership is rotating away from the complex.

Why This Matters: The AI complex has carried index-level returns for two years, so a week of relative underperformance is worth tracking — one week does not establish which way it resolves.

10 · Wen Moon — Weekly Read

What did the four complexes do across the week?

On 2026-08-17 the strongest of the four complexes over 21 days was Silver (+17.0%), with Crypto the weakest (-2.5%). By 2026-08-21 that had inverted: Crypto strongest (+22.7%), Equities (broad) weakest (+3.7%).

Crypto began the week as the weakest of the four and ended it as the strongest — a major change in short-horizon leadership inside five sessions.

Rotation Pulse kept Software, Precious Metals, Gold Miners and Silver Miners inside the leadership tercile over the same interval — the shift at the top did not displace them.

Methodology note: Wen Moon reports measured direction only. It does not classify these complexes as ranging, building or breaking out — that classifier is not validated.

Why This Matters: Wen Moon tracks four complexes on one clock, so the change between the week's first and last read shows the direction of travel.

11 · Next Week

What evidence matters next?

Confirm or discard: Defense — with fewer than a full week of evidence behind it.

Asserted once and not repeated: Industrials (2026-08-20), Pipelines (2026-08-19) and Precious Metals (2026-08-20) — a single session that does not recur was a day, not a trend.

The specific test: whether crypto retains relative leadership after this week's repricing. 3 crypto complexes currently sit in the leadership tercile, Tier 2: ETH at rank 1. Continued strength, consolidation while holding leadership, or broadening participation would reinforce the move; a sharp reversal and loss of relative rank would weaken it.

Watch for re-emergence: REITs and EA.

Why This Matters: Naming the test in advance lets next week's edition grade this one.

13 · You Can Stop Here

If you wanted to know what happened this week, what is leading, and what matters next week — you have it. That was the publication.

What follows is the working: the full measured table for every tracked complex, the complete conviction ledger showing which calls Polaris held and which it dropped on which day, and the provenance record identifying exactly which intelligence runs and which daily editions this week was built from. It is here so the conclusions above can be checked rather than trusted.

14 · The Working

Where did these conclusions come from?

Every tracked complex, measured close-to-close from 2026-08-14 to 2026-08-21, followed by every conviction Polaris carried during the week and the provenance record for the five daily editions this week was built from.

Why This Matters: A weekly conclusion that cannot be traced to the daily record it came from is an opinion.
